Nursery

Welcome to the Nursery!

Our Nursery caters for children aged 2-4 years and is comprised of three main areas, a two year old room and two spacious rooms and an intervention space  for 3-4 year olds.

We have named our rooms after the characters in the Percy the Park Keeper stories!

Our youngest children (2 year olds) access the Hedgehog room.

Our older children (3  and 4 year olds) children access the Rabbit , Squirrels and Badger rooms.

 Forest School

We are very fortunate to have access to our fabulous Forest School. The Nursery children mostly visit the Forest every Wednesday and Friday morning. Two year olds will visit the Forest regularly to ensure all part-time children are able to share in the experience of this exciting environment.

To ensure that all children get the maximum time in the Forest, we would really appreciate your help in supporting your child to get changed into their Forest School clothes once they arrive. We provide all children with a waterproof coat and trousers. Please supply your child with a named pair of wellington boots, to be kept in school if possible.

In colder weather please make sure your child has plenty of layers to wear under their waterproofs, a named warm hat and gloves as well as a thicker coat. Thank you!

Tapestry

We use Tapestry to create an online learning journal for each child. Here you will find photos, updates and assessments of your child. Please let us know if you are having any issues accessing your account.

Phonics

We have a range of phonic games and activities that we do every day using the Letters and Sounds scheme phase 1. We also bring phonics into everyday activities and core provision activities through conversation and observation.

The Government has recently launched a new campaign to promote communication skills in 0-5 population called Hungry Little Minds. Do have a look at the link below to see how you can help your child's developing skills in this area. There are some good activity ideas and video clips to look at!

Summer Term

As this wonderful weather continues please remember to put suncream on your child prior to their session. If the children are here all day we will re-cream the children at lunchtime with the school suncream unless a specific home suncream is required!

The themes in our Nursery classes this half term are Summer, People who help us, the seaside and under the sea. We will be checking how our seeds are doing at home and school and look forward to seeing photos of how your sunflower is growing! How tall do you think it will grow?

As we hope the weather will be getting warmer we will have lots of outdoor fun in the forest and playground as well as the big field! We will have regular runs to the orchard from the pond area sp we can check the wildlife and plants growing and see how the fruit trees are developing!

We hope to have some special visitors talking about their jobs as we investigate our theme, People who help us and will dress up as them too! We are going to continue playing a range of games as part of our Working Memory project and continue to build our repertoire of Nursery Rhymes and songs. We will use IT and books to find out about a whole range of creatures we might find living under the sea and talk about what we  might do and see at the seaside. We will use puppets and small world figures to make up stories and explore lots of different words to describe them. Remember to bring layers of clothes to wear if it is still chilly so we can go outside every day or if the sun still shines, a named sun hat and suitable footwear for being active! Many thanks.
