Collaboration with other schools

11th March 2016

At Countess Wear School, we work very closely with other schools in Exeter. ‘Collaboration and Challenge’ is one of our four key priority areas in our school improvement plan, and we know that the future of school improvement lies in schools working together and supporting each other. The current government is aiming for all school to become academies by 2020. Failing schools and schools not making enough progress are sometimes given no choice by the government about which academy to join. We, however, are currently in a strong position, having been given a ‘Good’ judgement by Ofsted and having strong results at the end of KS1 and KS2. This means that we can make our own choice about which other schools we would like to collaborate with. The Governors have met with staff and have decided to start a consultation process to form an academy with a group of local schools. On Monday, you will receive a letter with more details about this proposed collaboration, and we look forward to hearing your views.
