Fund the Forest

20th May 2016

Fund the ForestWell done to all the children who took part in the Bob a Job fundraising event to ‘Fund the Forest’. We have had lots of positive feedback about the children. Here is a quote from one of our local parent governors Nerys Thomas; The Forest School at Countess Wear Community School is outstanding, offering a huge range of opportunities to support children's learning, as well as engaging them with nature and developing skills. The school is at the heart of our community, and engaging with members of our community is incredibly important for the children, and highly valued by our community. As part of their forest school session, 30 children came to my garden to help weed the vegetable patch.  I saw them developing their team working skills, supporting each other and taking it in turns, they were learning about the different plants within the garden, and also dug up some old pottery, which led onto a discussion with one of the pupils about archaeology. They also learnt that by doing this work, and by being enterprising they were supporting buying new equipment for their Forest school, which they love. It was terrific to see how much pride they had in being able to do this, and how proud they were in what they achieved. I have had so many positive comments about the children doing their 'bob a job' sessions - it's a terrific idea.
